The days are shorter.
Light is always a treasure,
but when the days are hot
and the evenings are warm,
I relish the evening shadows
as the sun goes down.

Early evening is a favorite time.
It’s cooled down
and I can be at my favorite place,
The Porch.

This is where I can be,
looking at dusk,
feeling cool,
thinking and writing and reading.
Sometimes I hear a train
which is music to my ears.
I’m taken back to my childhood
growing up in the hills of
West Virginia.
The Porch.
Perhaps it’s the triggering of the senses,
sight and sound
that make me feel so good.
Don’t we all need to feel good?
There are two ways of living life. One is to live as though nothing is a miracle. The other is to live as though everything is a miracle. ~Albert Einstein~
Jennie
I like this time of year. I really enjoyed the way you’ve expressed this.
I love your porch Jennie… I like to think of you taking your ease there!
I love the quote I prefer to live life as if everything is a miracle 💖💖💖💖
There is something about a porch. We had one on the farm too and as a child I spent a lot of time there reading. I don’t have a porch now but I have a terrace and that’s where you will often find me. I love your poem and the Einstein quote. 💖💖
Love that porch, Jennie. There is something special about a porch area and my grandparents used to spend a lot of time there discussing the events of the day, and what might come the next day. Adjacent to the dining room, they (and any of us who just happened to come by for dinner lol) usually headed for there once the meal was over and the weather was welcoming…especially this time of year.
