Things Happen in Threes

Things certainly do happen in threes.  This week:

1)   The mask mandate at school was lifted.

2)  Gloria will now be allowed to go home with children for weekend visits.  Her last visit was two years ago.  This is her journal entry.

3)  Every year since her girls were in my preschool class (they’re now in their 30’s), The Sticky Bun Lady delivered home made sticky buns and peanut butter balls to our house on Christmas Eve.  Our delivery finally arrived!

About Jennie

I have been teaching preschool for over thirty-five years. This is my passion. I believe that children have a voice, and that is the catalyst to enhance or even change the learning experience. Emergent curriculum opens young minds. It's the little things that happen in the classroom that are most important and exciting. That's what I write about. I was a live guest on the Kelly Clarkson Show. I am highlighted in the seventh edition of Jim Trelease's million-copy bestselling book, "The Read-Aloud Handbook" because of my reading to children. My class has designed quilts that hang as permanent displays at the National Liberty Museum in Philadelphia, the Fisher House at the Boston VA Hospital, and the Massachusetts State House in Boston.

Hooray for Gloria, sticky buns, and seeing faces again. I just never thought I would see the day when you could not go into a bank unless you wore a mask.

Normalcy feels pretty good about right now. One of my favorite aspects of what you do with Gloria is to send a journal along with her.

    • Jennie says:

Normalcy is coming in baby steps, yet it feels like giant steps. Hooray! I am so excited that Gloria can once again have weekend visits. Her journal is a treasure. Thanks so much, Pete.

  6. Let’s hear it for good things happening in threes! I’ll bet Gloria will be very get to get out of the classroom for a change of scene.

My wife always says that everything comes in threes, good or bad.
I am sure they will be fighting over who takes Gloria home.
But meanwhile, I now want a sticky bun! (Not peanut butter anything though. 🙂 )
    Best wishes, Pete.

I believe in the 3 thing, too, especially if it involves ‘sticky buns’. I’m heading to Wegmans and will make a beeline for pastries. Yours look delicious.

  15. While those 3s are cool, I’m impressed with the sticky bun lady in that she saw an open door and continues her tradition way past its traditional time frame. Oh and I’m sure those sticky buns were fresh & gooey!
