About Jennie

I have been teaching preschool for over forty years. This is my passion. I believe that children have a voice, and that is the catalyst to enhance or even change the learning experience. Emergent curriculum opens young minds. It's the little things that happen in the classroom that are most important and exciting. That's what I write about. I was a live guest on the Kelly Clarkson Show. I am highlighted in the seventh edition of Jim Trelease's million-copy bestselling book, "The Read-Aloud Handbook" because of my reading to children. My class has designed quilts that hang as permanent displays at the National Liberty Museum in Philadelphia, the Fisher House at the Boston VA Hospital, and the Massachusetts State House in Boston.

yes very true and I think the route of the problem is we don’t accept ourselves inspite of all the damage. We can always cntrol this part.

  6. Words of wisdom Jennie many thanks for sharing them. May we all learn acceptance

  7. That’s beautiful Jennie, and I loved Mr. Roberts. He always spoke so soothingly and genuinely. He taught us a lot of really good values.

Well put, Fred Rogers. Don’t you think the quality of acceptance is one of the most beautiful qualities in children, Jennie? One of my beliefs is that adults could learn a lot by watching kids. We are supposed to get smarter with age. Then how come there are so many closed-minded adults who tell others the “right” way to live?

Spot on, Pete. Working with young children every day reinforces the importance and value of acceptance. I think those close minded adults must have never had a dog growing up, or a grandparent. The heart has to be developed before we can get smart, don’t you think? I just love Mr. Rogers.
