When I was a boy and I would see scary things in the news, my mother would say to me, “Look for the helpers. You will always find people who are helping.” – Fred Rogers

I loved this. He was such a good person.
Thank you. He was one of the best.
Nice reblog, Jennie, and still true today.
Best wishes, Pete.
Indeed it is. Thank you, Pete.
What a wise saying by Fred Rogers. So true, we mustn’t just stare at negative news. Look at the helpers. Positive news don’t get as much press as negative so we better look.
miriam
You said it well, Miriam.
Fred Rogers is, and always will be, one of my heroes.
Me, too! 🙂
Mister Rogers was such a fantastic friend to all! His words in his messages are always meaningful and straightforward, Jennie. Helpers and neighbors are there for us to “lean on” or we can be the one who is leaned upon. 🌈 🌟
You said it well, Robin. He was one of the greatest. I heard him speak at a national conference many years ago. Lucky me.
This is a very good way to look at the negatives in life, Jennie. It is true, there are always helpers.
I think so, too.
I love this gentle soul.
Me, too!
Here’s to the helpers of the world. And Jennie — you are a shining light among them. Hugs on the wing!
Aww… you are too kind! Hugs to you, Teagan. 😊
Let’s celebrate all those helpers among us. Our teachers are on the front line helping every day.
You are so right, Dayne! 🙂
I used to watch Mr. Rogers when I was a kid, and he definitely had some brilliant moments. This is one of them. 🙂
I think so, Cathleen. He was terrific for children. I’m glad you enjoyed this. 🙂
Looking for the good, that’s always the best way. A lovely quote.
I think so, too! 🙂
This is one of my very favorite quotes, Jennie! It is so important that we keep these wise words in mind. Thank you for sharing. – Susan
Thank you, Susan. It is a winner of a quote. So important.
I recently watched a very old film clip of Mr. Rogers talking about why shows like his are so important and necessary for children, what a great man he was.
He really was. I’m glad my children watched his show. Every time I see one of his clips I am moved.
