Our pool boasts over 50 fish, from hanging on the fence to sitting on the ground, and perched atop fence posts. I’ve posted the fish before. You may not know that we also have fish on the porch.

They’re like our children.
From the pool to the porch, no two are alike.
they come in all shapes, sizes, and colors.
Some need tending to every year,
others are hearty souls.
I’m glad we have such a big family.

About Jennie
I have been teaching preschool for over forty years. This is my passion. I believe that children have a voice, and that is the catalyst to enhance or even change the learning experience. Emergent curriculum opens young minds. It's the little things that happen in the classroom that are most important and exciting. That's what I write about.
I was a live guest on the Kelly Clarkson Show. I am highlighted in the seventh edition of Jim Trelease's million-copy bestselling book, "The Read-Aloud Handbook" because of my reading to children. My class has designed quilts that hang as permanent displays at the National Liberty Museum in Philadelphia, the Fisher House at the Boston VA Hospital, and the Massachusetts State House in Boston.
Your collection is very impressive, Jennie. And I think I spotted a Murano Glass one there too. My late aunt collected Murano Glass, and she had a few of those fishes.
Best wishes, Pete.
Yes, you have a good eye. That was a gift. Thanks, Pete. Best to you.
A fascinating collection, Jennie! Now you only need a cat to catch some of them. 😉 Thanks for sharing this impressive moment. Best wishes, enjoy a wonderful weekend! xx Michael
Sorry, for another delay. i know i have to catch up with the missed quiliting story.
Haha! Thanks, Michael! If you get to read about Milly the Quilter, it’s quite a story. Happy weekend!
Your collection of fish is outstanding!! Do they all have names?
Many at the pool have names, but not the ones on the porch. Glad you enjoyed seeing the fish!
Love your fish collection, Jennie I remeber some of them from a previous post a while ago…Love the glass one and the fish going down the wall on a ribbon xx
Thanks so much, Carol. Glad you enjoyed!
I did , Jennie 🙏🧑🍳🩷
😍
That’s quite a school of fish, Jennie!
It is! 🙂
Lovely scale babies… it looks lovely and green where you are … it’s scorched earth here!💜💜💜
Despite the heat, it is still green (thank goodness.) Glad you enjoyed the scale babies! 💕
It looks really lush where you are 💜💜
Thanks, Willow!
That teakwood fish–a flounder I think?–is gorgeous.
Thanks, Jacqui. He’s a favorite!
Something seems very fishy here, Jennie…love these!
It’s very fishy, indeed! Thanks, Bruce. I’m glad you liked the fish.
Your fish are lovely. An interesting collectible 🐡🐠🐟
Thank, Robbie. ‘Interesting’ is my favorite word!
Tee-hee! Oh, I adore this, Jennie. What wondrous whimsy! Hugs.
Many thanks, Teagan. I’m so glad! Hugs!
You have a wonderful collection of fish! I see a Nemo friend by the pool jumping up to say “hi” to us perhaps. Or, just making a splash. 😊🐟🐠🐡
Yes! And of course his name is Nemo. Many thanks, Deborah.
Love the fish, and the views from your windows! All those lovely trees.
Thanks, FR. We think it’s a piece of heaven.
It does look like that!
😍
I’d say that your porch, pool, and yard are the places to be in the summer! The fish are great. Are you still collecting new additions?
Yes, they are the places to be. Interestingly, all the neighbors have big houses and small yards, and we’re just the opposite. Lucky us. We only add if a fish really catches our eye. Hubby says, “You can never have too many fish.” 😀
