England, we are feeling your heatwave pain. We’re at 100, which is rare, and many of us don’t have air conditioning, like you. We have a pool, thank goodness, but it has been too hot to go outside and take a dip. Tonight we went in at 8:00 PM.
Two more days of heat to go! I hope our Fourth of July festivities don’t get cancelled. Many are already delayed until later in the day. Happy 250th, America. Stay cool.

I have heard that some places have cancelled their fireworks due to early drought.
I’ve heard the same thing. One of the biggest events in Boston is the Boston Pops performing on the Esplanade. Instead of letting people arrive at noon, they’ve pushed it up to 4:00 due to the heat.

Your pool must be a blessing, even if you have to wait until the evening to cool off in it. We are due to get 30C/86F again this weekend, but that is a lot less than we had to endure last Friday.

Yes, it is definitely a blessing! 86 sounds pretty good. Today we’re at 98, probably close to what you had to endure. Many Fourth of July events are being cancelled or delayed due to the extreme heat.

Stay cool, Jennie. I think the worst was seeing 80 degrees at 6:00 am and 86% humidity. A couple more days of this and then 85 degrees will feel cool.
Even though we are faced with two months in the 100s I still eel for you New Englanders. Gotta be tough.
My son texted us yesterday that the heat index was supposed to reach 112! I think they have a couple of window units, but boy, that’s dangerously hot. Stay cool if you can.

You have my profoundest sympathy. It didn’t get as hot as 100 degrees here where we are on the English coast – we’re close enough to the sea to have a bit of a breeze most days. But nights in the high 70s were brutal – not much sleep was happening. So I absolutely appreciate what you’re going through and hope that once the heatwave breaks, it cools down faster with you than it did here. Thinking of you and hoping you all stay okay!

Yes, Happy 250th! I remember celebrating the 200th when we were first married. 🇺🇸 Fingers crossed we can get in the pool before 8:00 PM!

You have my deep sympathies with the heat wave and no AC. I had to shower several times a day and not dry off. I’d put on a house dress or something loose to keep going. Georgia sunk me with a heat stroke at age 10 after we came back from Germany. Everywhere is hotter now than it’s ever been. I don’t do heat and won’t rent without AC. Glad the heat will end soon, for now.
Heat stroke when you’re 10 is horrible. I only had it once, and I’ll never forget it. Today is the last day of the heatwave, thank goodness. Our pool is like bath water. Haha! Stay cool in your AC, my friend.
