“Oh, the weather outside is frightful
and my book is so delightful.
Since I’ve no no place to go,
let it snow, read a book, let it snow.”

The weather is awful. We’re getting 18 to 20+ inches of snow.
It is a winter wonderland.

I am loving reading Amanda in Ireland: The Body in the Bog,
by Darlene Foster.
The book is SO good!
Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow.

About Jennie
I have been teaching preschool for over forty years. This is my passion. I believe that children have a voice, and that is the catalyst to enhance or even change the learning experience. Emergent curriculum opens young minds. It's the little things that happen in the classroom that are most important and exciting. That's what I write about.
I was a live guest on the Kelly Clarkson Show. I am highlighted in the seventh edition of Jim Trelease's million-copy bestselling book, "The Read-Aloud Handbook" because of my reading to children. My class has designed quilts that hang as permanent displays at the National Liberty Museum in Philadelphia, the Fisher House at the Boston VA Hospital, and the Massachusetts State House in Boston.
What a lovely post, Jenne. Darlene will be so pleased.
Thanks so much, John. I think Darlene will have big smiles.
😀
Oh Wow that is a lot of snow. Gosh becareful. I love your poem. Enjoy your book safe and warm
Thank you, Bella!
Too fast. missed the “i” Sorry Jennie
No worries!
😊
Reading is the perfect thing to do when it is snowing outside. I’m so happy that Amanda is keeping you entertained. Thanks for the mention. Enjoy!
Hi Darlene! I can’t tell you how wonderful it is to curl up with Amanda in a near blizzard. Thank YOU! 😍
A great day to stay inside, let alone keep warm with Darlene’s book. I just watched your Patriots win in a blizzard in Denver.
It was a perfect day to be cosy in the never-ending snow and read Darlene’s book. Of course I had to stop and watch the Patriots. What a win, in a blizzard, and they’re off to the Super Bowl! Tomorrow is a snow day, and will be shoveling nearly 2 feet of snow, but it will be light and fluffy. Still…
Thank you for sharing your snow photos. Our landscape looks the same. It’s been snowing steadily all day today. I love your reader’s take on “Let It Snow”!
What a snow storm, and it will continue all night. I figured your landscape looked the same. Thanks, Liz. Stay warm.
You’re welcome, Jennie. As long as our power doesn’t go out, we’ll be fine.
Same, here!
Lovely snow day with a good book! Life is good!
Yes, and yes! Thank you, FR.
That’s the perfect thing to do on a snowy day, Jennie. And you picked a great book!
Yes, and yes! Thank you, Dan. Of course I had to watch the Patriots. What a game! Looking forward to the Super Bowl.
yes, what a lovely snow day to be snowed in with a lovely book
It was perfect, Beth! Thank you.
Stay safe and keep reading! 🤣😎😎😎
Thanks, Brian. Will do!
Stay warm, Jennie.
😀
Keep warm, Jennie, and enjoy the wonderland in your window!
Will do.
I enjoyed her book too – and glad you are staying warm with a good read!

Thanks, Yvette!

A terrific book Jennie and I suspect schools are shut today… loved Darlene’s book and stay warm.. ♥
It is! Yes, we have a snow day today, 18+ inches on the ground, and 2-3 more coming. 💕
It looks beautiful, but everyday life becomes a trial because of it. Glad you have a great book to keep you company.
Best wishes, Pete.
Well said, Pete. I haven’t bundled up to shovel yet.
Darlene writes great books for children/teens. I hope the weather warms up for you soon. We currently have 2C here.
She really does! Your temps aren’t too bad. We have a long stretch of cold weather ahead. Sigh!
It will pass…
🙂
Sounds cozy! I’ll bet you have a mug of hot cocoa with a splash of whip at hand, too! (at least I hope so – treats make snow days more of a treat!)
Yes, they do. A chocolate cookie on the side, too. 😀
PS: BTW: I’m okay with our Broncos loss…given the changed circumstances of our quarterback who plowed through the season with much support from defense and stalwart offense…After all, The New England Patriots and Denver Broncos are tied for the most Super Bowl losses by a team and I just couldn’t stomach a rematch with us ‘weakened’ and possibly breaking that record of losses! 😉
I love your verse of the song! It looks pretty there. I’m glad you have a good book and mystery read and solve to pass the snow day with.
You’re the first person to comment on the song. I wonder if people didn’t realize or know the song. It certainly fit the bill! Such a good book!
Hi, Jennie. That looks enough like a blizzard to me. I only got the edge of the storm in southern NM, but even that was 6 inches of snow.
Darlene’s Amanda books are fantastic. Stay safe and warm. Hugs.
It was! Shoveling today was a nightmare. Even your 6 inches is not easy to shovel. I’m so glad you like Darlene’s Amanda books! Hugs!!
Lol, we got a three foot dumping yesterday and been minus 20, 30, 40 for days. 😍
Oh, no!!! 😳
Oh yes. It’s the gift that keeps on giving. 😍
Haha!! Especially in Canada. 😀
😍🥰
We haven’t had good snow here in years and desperately need it. Weather is all out of wack. I have a shirt that says let us sew, let us sew, let us sew. I’d rather read blogs now. Sewed enough today. Snow is gone already. Wonder where Darlene is going to write her next book about?
It’s been quite a few years since we had a big snow. Our walkway feels like a tunnel. I love what your shirt says! I understand when you’d rather read blogs than sew. It all goes in cycles. Have you read Darlene’s books? They are so good! I far more enjoy middle grade books than any others. I do wonder where she’s going to write her next book. Best to you, Marlene.
Reading and sewing are different body positions so I have to go back and forth. I have a slight hunch forming and trying to manage it’s progression. 🙂 I have not read any of Darlene’s books but loved reading her blog. I have no one to give the books to so it’s not a wise purchase now.
I get that, Marlene. I’m sure you know when to switch back and forth. I know you, and you will love Darlene’s Amanda books. They’re an easy read, and it’s adventure and learning about cool places. Please send me your address so I can send you a few of Darlene’s books. It will mean the world to me to give you something I know you will love. Really. Send me your address to sfitzkee@erols.com.
Let me give that some thought, Jennie. I appreciate it so much.
😍
I love your winters scenes and hope everyone has managed to keep safe and well during the last few days. There is nothing quite as cosy on days like this to snuggle up with a good book – and you’ve got a great one there! Happy Reading, Jennie!
Thank you, Annika. The snow is very deep, and it’s bitter cold. I wish we could take the children outside to play. Snuggling up to read a good book is a delight!
This is delightful, Jennie. I love that song and your fun version.
I’m so glad, Robbie. I don’t think many bloggers recognized the song. It fit the bill!
I love the crooners
Me, too!
Great reading weather, that’s for sure!
Definitely! Thanks, Marcia.
Bad weather is always a GREAT excuse to stay indoors and read a book!
Yes, it is.
Awesome post Jennie. Enjoy your book and let there be peace.
Beautiful words, Kamal. Thank you!
Thanks dear Jennie ❤️
Thank you, Kamal!
I’m not trying to rub it in, but I’m very happy to be in Cancun right now and not dealing with the winter everyone seems to be having. I just finished Amanda in Arabia, as I wanted to go back to the beginning of the series. I will get to Ireland eventually. I’m glad you have a good book to curl up with.
You are not rubbing it in, Carla. Enjoy your weather! I haven’t read all of Darlene’s books. I think I’ll go back to the beginning, too.
“The weather outside is frightful” or so the song goes. So glad you have a lovely book and a warm place to read, Jennie!
Me too, and thank you!
Wonderful post, Jennie. Wishing you peaceful moments with your book and tranquility all around.
Thank you.
Darlene is a wonderful author & person – so happy to see her featured here – stay warm & safe, dear
She is! I was happy to see her here, too.
Always welcome Jennie 😊
Thank you, Kamal!
