A Book and a Near Blizzard

“Oh, the weather outside is frightful
and my book is so delightful.
Since I’ve no no place to go,
let it snow, read a book, let it snow.”

The weather is awful.  We’re getting 18 to 20+ inches of snow.
It is a winter wonderland.

I am loving reading Amanda in Ireland: The Body in the Bog,
by Darlene Foster.
The book is SO good!
Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow.

About Jennie

I have been teaching preschool for over forty years. This is my passion. I believe that children have a voice, and that is the catalyst to enhance or even change the learning experience. Emergent curriculum opens young minds. It's the little things that happen in the classroom that are most important and exciting. That's what I write about. I was a live guest on the Kelly Clarkson Show. I am highlighted in the seventh edition of Jim Trelease's million-copy bestselling book, "The Read-Aloud Handbook" because of my reading to children. My class has designed quilts that hang as permanent displays at the National Liberty Museum in Philadelphia, the Fisher House at the Boston VA Hospital, and the Massachusetts State House in Boston.

Reading is the perfect thing to do when it is snowing outside. I’m so happy that Amanda is keeping you entertained. Thanks for the mention. Enjoy!

A great day to stay inside, let alone keep warm with Darlene’s book. I just watched your Patriots win in a blizzard in Denver.

It was a perfect day to be cosy in the never-ending snow and read Darlene’s book. Of course I had to stop and watch the Patriots. What a win, in a blizzard, and they’re off to the Super Bowl! Tomorrow is a snow day, and will be shoveling nearly 2 feet of snow, but it will be light and fluffy. Still…

  6. Thank you for sharing your snow photos. Our landscape looks the same. It’s been snowing steadily all day today. I love your reader’s take on “Let It Snow”!

It looks beautiful, but everyday life becomes a trial because of it. Glad you have a great book to keep you company.

    Best wishes, Pete.

  15. Darlene writes great books for children/teens. I hope the weather warms up for you soon. We currently have 2C here.

  16. Sounds cozy! I’ll bet you have a mug of hot cocoa with a splash of whip at hand, too! (at least I hope so – treats make snow days more of a treat!)

  17. PS: BTW: I’m okay with our Broncos loss…given the changed circumstances of our quarterback who plowed through the season with much support from defense and stalwart offense…After all, The New England Patriots and Denver Broncos are tied for the most Super Bowl losses by a team and I just couldn’t stomach a rematch with us ‘weakened’ and possibly breaking that record of losses! 😉

  18. I love your verse of the song! It looks pretty there. I’m glad you have a good book and mystery read and solve to pass the snow day with.

You’re the first person to comment on the song. I wonder if people didn’t realize or know the song. It certainly fit the bill! Such a good book!
