The Spirit of Christmas
That’s what it’s really about.
This is the year we need to keep that spirit alive.
This is the year we need to find happiness.
If we are happy, it is contagious.
I bring you my favorite ad, as this is the one to, well…
fill me with twinkle lights that shoot out of my fingers and toes.
Yes, this is the one.
May you find happiness and joy this season.
It’s the little things, not the big things, that are important.
Dance, smile, hug your kids, look at the sky.
You will become the shooting star for others.
I have been teaching preschool for over forty years. This is my passion. I believe that children have a voice, and that is the catalyst to enhance or even change the learning experience. Emergent curriculum opens young minds. It's the little things that happen in the classroom that are most important and exciting. That's what I write about.
I was a live guest on the Kelly Clarkson Show. I am highlighted in the seventh edition of Jim Trelease's million-copy bestselling book, "The Read-Aloud Handbook" because of my reading to children. My class has designed quilts that hang as permanent displays at the National Liberty Museum in Philadelphia, the Fisher House at the Boston VA Hospital, and the Massachusetts State House in Boston.
I can see why the family aspect of that appeals, and also the ‘remote contact’, so familiar these days. 🙂
This is my own favourite Christmas ad, because of the combination of her version of the song, and the animation.
I watched each one of those videos and now I can’t see through the tears! Beautiful, touching insights into the human heart. We need this right now! You are a wise woman Jennie.
A friend shared that ad with me earlier this week and I bawled my eyes out. It reminds me so much of Robert Munsch’s Love You Forever, which also makes me cry every time I read it. Great share Gennie. I know this is not a Christmas ad, but I love this Budweiser one. https://youtu.be/TPKgC8KPBMg

I had to blow my nose and wipe away my tears before I could comment. I have never seen this ad but I LOVE it! Now I need to get more tissue and wipe more tears. My dancing in public makes my kids (adult) laugh. It’s vital to the life force. 😉
My thoughts and reaction were exactly the same. I’ve probably watched it 50 times and I can’t get enough of this joy and goodness, dancing, father and son, and family generations. I stocked up on tissues! Dancing is good for us!! Much love to you, Marlene! ❤️
This is wonderful, Jennie. Since you appear to be collecting them, my favorite is the Eat’n Park Christmas Star ad. You can find that on YouTube. Christmas in Pittsburgh doesn’t start until it airs – at least not for our family.
It’s funny because I had never seen this ad until this year. Now I’ve seen it at least a half dozen times in the last month. I love that the dad isn’t embarrassed to dance in front of his son in public. Of course, the ending is the big closer.
I knew this would tug at your heart. Merry Christmas to you and your family, Norah. BTW, do Australians say Happy Christmas and not Merry Christmas? Just curious.
Thank you, Jennie. I think both greetings are acceptable in Australia. I tend to use happy rather than merry. It’s a habit that goes back to my childhood when someone commented that ‘merry’ was often associated with having consumed a little too much alcohol. 🙂

All these ads were new and very encouraging to watch. They have healed the misappropriation of Pete Seeger by Volvo!
