The Best Words From a Child

A child said to me this week,

“Jennie, tell me all the books.”

Surely those are the best words a teacher can hear.

About Jennie

I have been teaching preschool for over forty years. This is my passion. I believe that children have a voice, and that is the catalyst to enhance or even change the learning experience. Emergent curriculum opens young minds. It's the little things that happen in the classroom that are most important and exciting. That's what I write about. I was a live guest on the Kelly Clarkson Show. I am highlighted in the seventh edition of Jim Trelease's million-copy bestselling book, "The Read-Aloud Handbook" because of my reading to children. My class has designed quilts that hang as permanent displays at the National Liberty Museum in Philadelphia, the Fisher House at the Boston VA Hospital, and the Massachusetts State House in Boston.

  13. I agree to, just wish my children would read more but the Ipod and Ipad always come first. I love to read, but don’t get much time now. As a child I read loads, I loved it. Just wish my kids had the same passion.

Thank you so much! Do you read aloud to your children? Do you read together? If you can set aside 30 minutes every evening, have the iPod and iPad off, and read together, it will make a great difference. If YOU have the passion, your kids will. It has to start with you. You can bring back the joy you felt as a child, to your children. I’m rooting for you! 🙂
