Stillness

Evening tonight is stillness.  Quiet and beauty.  Nothing else.  No birds or dragonflies.  No wind.  Somehow the silence brings out all the important things.  Mother Nature is the greatest teacher of all. She gives children the wonders of discovery and learning. She gives adults reminders to stop, on nights like tonight: look around and really see. When you notice, you feel.  A hundred things rush through you, like a fast forward movie of all the good things.  Thank you Mother Nature.  I stopped.  I took everything in.  I will be your assistant at school and help children to see your wonders.

About Jennie

I have been teaching preschool for over thirty-five years. This is my passion. I believe that children have a voice, and that is the catalyst to enhance or even change the learning experience. Emergent curriculum opens young minds. It's the little things that happen in the classroom that are most important and exciting. That's what I write about. I was a live guest on the Kelly Clarkson Show. I am highlighted in the seventh edition of Jim Trelease's million-copy bestselling book, "The Read-Aloud Handbook" because of my reading to children. My class has designed quilts that hang as permanent displays at the National Liberty Museum in Philadelphia, the Fisher House at the Boston VA Hospital, and the Massachusetts State House in Boston.

When I am out with Ollie, walking in the countryside, I always make a point of stopping to listen. Sometime just the rustling of leaves, and other times, nothing at all. You caught that mood just right, Jennie.
    Best wishes, Pete.

How lovely, Jennie. I love the hush of evening. I like to head outside just at sunset and watch the evening show in nature.

  8. Wonderful, Jennie. I used to do a lot of classes about nature and the wonders of this Earth with my Sunday School. The kids loved it.

Silence can refer to both lack of communication on the part of people, but what is most common is the lack of average noise, or sound (which is different by the part that noise is most commonly known as an irritating sound rather than any sort of sound). Silence, or in this case, the sound of silence. Stillness has a part in making no sound audible.
What I like about these posts is that they can point at any sort of musings you have, and they are designed to be thoughts that other people will find useful or nice to think about.
Poetic has a part in better explaining the feeling of actions.

  10. Thanks for this wonderful reminder to stop and take in our surroundings. I’m trying to do more of that instead of my constant multi-tasking!

This post brightened my night and therefore my day. Been feeling in quite a funk for a variety of reasons after having a contusion on my back after falling on the concrete on the 5th of this month I’m getting what’s called a contusion on it but I’m trying to maintain good spirits and looking for the next project and I’ll be working on to earn a living. Pray I get something soon.

Thank you, Paulette. I’m glad it gave you a bit of joy. Wishing you healing and all things good. 🙂

      • Whatever you prayed for me keep praying it because I feel much better today and last night I met a lady who wants me to create two awesome blogs for her. Talk about Divine Intervention.

      • How do you make hearts on here? I don’t know how to make those little hearts but what I do know is I’m sending a million of them your way right now in terms of love and thank yous and a million other wonderful things

      • Jennie says:

Awww… that’s so nice, Paulette. When I type on my iPad, I can select emojis, and I wanted to send you hearts, not smiley faces. Best to you!
