The cows were the first to holler,
“Autumn is here! Autumn is here!
Put on your bright colors!”
The leaves heard the call.
They shook off their green
and dressed in red.
At first it was hard.
But they got the hang of it.
Then they burst into glory.
Next came the orange and the yellow.
The sunflowers gave a big smile.
The last butterfly appeared.
As the autumn colors emerged and exploded,
the sky answered
with a show of approval.

My class has designed quilts that hang as permanent displays at the National Liberty Museum in Philadelphia, the Fisher House at the Boston VA Hospital, and the Massachusetts State House in Boston.
