What could be better than valentines
from my school children?
Nothing.
I hit the jackpot of love.

I have been teaching preschool for over forty years. This is my passion. I believe that children have a voice, and that is the catalyst to enhance or even change the learning experience. Emergent curriculum opens young minds. It's the little things that happen in the classroom that are most important and exciting. That's what I write about. I was a live guest on the Kelly Clarkson Show. I am highlighted in the seventh edition of Jim Trelease's million-copy bestselling book, "The Read-Aloud Handbook" because of my reading to children. My class has designed quilts that hang as permanent displays at the National Liberty Museum in Philadelphia, the Fisher House at the Boston VA Hospital, and the Massachusetts State House in Boston.

I am a school crossing guard, and I am so blessed to receive valentines from the school children as well. 😀

      Hi, Carl! Yvette connected me to your blog because you’re a school crossing guard, and she loved my recent post about Steve, the crossing guard. He was unbelievable in what he did with children. He was dubbed The Curbside Classroom. The blog post is recent, and I think you will love it. I’m so glad I found your blog! You are far more than a crossing guard.

        Hi Jennie, Yvette is such an amazing, engaging blogger. That was so kind of her to mention me. I noticed you wrote an article back in 2019 titled “Steve the Crossing Guard”. Plus also the more recent “The Best Teaching–Not Always in the Classroom”. It is so true that we only have like a minute or so to interact with the children.

I was blown away at what he did as a crossing guard, and I tip my hat to you. Those interactions with children, even if they’re just a minute, make a big difference. Thank you!
