Painted Cows at Old Sturbridge Village.

I’ll never forget the first time I saw painted cows. They adorned the main street in Bennington, Vermont. You couldn’t help but be in awe of the art on the cows. Now, cows at Old Sturbridge Village have been decorated by artists. They are wonderful! Art brings everything to life, including cows. Thank you, Dan Antion for sharing this cow post. I’m thrilled you thought of me on the Starry Night cow.

My class has designed quilts that hang as permanent displays at the National Liberty Museum in Philadelphia, the Fisher House at the Boston VA Hospital, and the Massachusetts State House in Boston.

      It is fun! Yes, Dan was pleased. I thought about all the art at Lakeway, and all the deer. I wonder if someone can copy this popular New England idea and have artists paint deer in your neck of the woods.

      I’ve always liked that poem! Liz, have you seen the painted cows along Main Street in Bennington? Surely there are more Vermont hot spots for painted cows. The art is amazing. There’s a painted cow at a veterinary clinic in New Hampshire, close to here. Really cool!

    My aunt lived in Pittsfield MA so I went to Old Sturbridge Village and Bennington Vt a few times. Sadly there were no painted cows when I was there. Feel like I missed something significant.

    Who couldn’t love a painted cow? Cows, in general, are fascinating animals. I remember when one of my students, whose dad was a dairy farmer, brought a cow to school and showed the class how to milk it on an old-fashioned milking stool.

    These painted cows sound amazing! I’ve been knee-deep in cleaning out my garage lately (thank you dumpster rental!), but now I’m thinking I could use a little art inspiration to brighten up my space. Starry Night cow sounds like a masterpiece!
