I’ll never forget the first time I saw painted cows. They adorned the main street in Bennington, Vermont. You couldn’t help but be in awe of the art on the cows. Now, cows at Old Sturbridge Village have been decorated by artists. They are wonderful! Art brings everything to life, including cows. Thank you, Dan Antion for sharing this cow post. I’m thrilled you thought of me on the Starry Night cow.

It’s a great idea, and I went to look at them on Dan’s post. They are beautifully painted, and thought-provoking indeed.
Best wishes, Pete.
Yes, they are. Seeing them in person must be quite an experience. Best to you, Pete.
A lovely share, Jennie
Thank you, Robbie.
Thanks for sharing this post, Jennie.
My pleasure, Dan!
I love art that pop in new and unique ways!
Yes! Seeing these cows in person is a whole art experience. Best to you, John.
Clicking through. Painted cows? How could I miss that???
They’re the best! 😀
A fun post for sure, Jennie. I visited the original but I’ll bet Dan is pleased to be here.
It is fun! Yes, Dan was pleased. I thought about all the art at Lakeway, and all the deer. I wonder if someone can copy this popular New England idea and have artists paint deer in your neck of the woods.
So wonderful, Jennie! This is client-oriented art, with a real background. 😉 Thanks for sharing, and have a wonderful week! Best wishes, Michael
Thank you, Michael!
Good evening Jenny. It sounds like you had a great day with the cows. I would have loved to see how they look. Have fun for both of us. It’s way past my bedtime.
“I never saw a Purple Cow,
I never hope to see one,
But I can tell you, anyhow,
I’d rather see than be one!”
I’ve always liked that poem! Liz, have you seen the painted cows along Main Street in Bennington? Surely there are more Vermont hot spots for painted cows. The art is amazing. There’s a painted cow at a veterinary clinic in New Hampshire, close to here. Really cool!
No, I haven’t. (I haven’t been to Bennington in a few years.) I’ll have to keep an eye out for painted cows the next time my husband and I are out on a jaunt.
I hope you discover some!
My aunt lived in Pittsfield MA so I went to Old Sturbridge Village and Bennington Vt a few times. Sadly there were no painted cows when I was there. Feel like I missed something significant.
Ally, this was a new thing at Old Sturbridge Village. I don’t know when they first had painted cows along the Main Street in Bennington. I saw them 5-10 years ago. On a side note, did you go to the Bennington Museum and see their Grandma Moses collection?
Yes we did. And visited the original Vermont Country Store that is up there somewhere.
I love that store!
Who couldn’t love a painted cow? Cows, in general, are fascinating animals. I remember when one of my students, whose dad was a dairy farmer, brought a cow to school and showed the class how to milk it on an old-fashioned milking stool.
Yes, who wouldn’t love a painted cow!! How cool that your class got to milk a real cow at school!
Only the owner’s daughter (my student) milked the cow. You can imagine the hoops we had to jump through just to make that happen. I imagine many administrators wouldn’t even allow that.
Ah, I should have realized all the hoops you had to jump through. I really hope many administrators would see how big this is for children and would allow that.
Those cows are so neat. I thought it was pretty cool that Dan thought of you when he saw the Starry Night cow too.
They are pretty neat cows! I thought it was wonderful that Dan thought of me with Starry Night. 😀
These painted cows sound amazing! I’ve been knee-deep in cleaning out my garage lately (thank you dumpster rental!), but now I’m thinking I could use a little art inspiration to brighten up my space. Starry Night cow sounds like a masterpiece!
Ah, Starry Night would be a welcome way to brighten your space, although any art inspiration will do the same job. Paint what you love! Thank you, Jeanie.
They certainly stand out!
Yes, they do!
A wonderful share Jennie
Thank you, Kamal!
Always welcome Jennie 😊
Thank you, Kamal!
udderly impressive artwork!
Haha! Thanks, Jim.

You are always welcome dear Jennie 💕
Thank you, Kamal!
