More Amanda Books to our Library

The Groton Public Library
has most of Darlene Foster’s wonderful
Amanda books,
but not all.
My last delivery included six books.
Now there are ten books in the series.
I was excited to gift the rest to the library.
So was the head of the Children’s Room.
Big smiles!

About Jennie

I have been teaching preschool for over forty years. This is my passion. I believe that children have a voice, and that is the catalyst to enhance or even change the learning experience. Emergent curriculum opens young minds. It's the little things that happen in the classroom that are most important and exciting. That's what I write about. I was a live guest on the Kelly Clarkson Show. I am highlighted in the seventh edition of Jim Trelease's million-copy bestselling book, "The Read-Aloud Handbook" because of my reading to children. My class has designed quilts that hang as permanent displays at the National Liberty Museum in Philadelphia, the Fisher House at the Boston VA Hospital, and the Massachusetts State House in Boston.

  28. Brian Bixby's avatar Brian Bixby says:

As a youthful user of the Groton Public Library (when I was youthful), thank you! Young readers should get all the encouragement they can!

    • Jennie's avatar Jennie says:

Yes, they should! I do two reading groups at the Groton Public Library. I love reading to the older children and having deep conversations about books (and life) as much as I love reading to my preschoolers. Brian, are you still in Groton?

      • Brian Bixby's avatar Brian Bixby says:

No, long departed. But I once promised to come up to tell your preschoolers a tale from my father’s youth, circa 1914, about the cow that got caught in the railroad track. If you still want it, I’ll outfit myself with photos of the two main players (my father as a youth, his Uncle Charles), and bring the walking stick my grandfather made around that time.

      • Jennie's avatar Jennie says:

Brian, that would be wonderful! Thank you so much. The children are 3-years-old, but they ‘get it’, because we do so much reading. Email me at sfitzkee@erols.com so we can set something up.
