Winged Victory

The plants and flowers are thriving,
all but the little guy in the back,
spreading his ‘wings’ and trying to grow.

Winged Victory is growing a baby flower.

Winged Victory is the end of summer and summer camp,
watching children thrive and grow,
braving the big water slide.

Winged Victory is nailing the query letter,
with mega kudos from the picky editor,
and immediately knowing the book comps.
It is Harry the Dirty Dog and Guji Guji
riding The Polar Express.

Winged Victory Statue

“The most interesting thing in the world to me has always been a free, spontaneous expression of human nature – whether in a thought, a symphony, a poem, a painting, a statue, or an act of everyday life that shows the qualities of mind, heart, and soul which, in my opinion, are the indispensables in any work of art.”
~Letter by Dr. Albert C. Barnes to
         Leopold Stokowski, March 18, 1925~

About Jennie

I have been teaching preschool for over forty years. This is my passion. I believe that children have a voice, and that is the catalyst to enhance or even change the learning experience. Emergent curriculum opens young minds. It's the little things that happen in the classroom that are most important and exciting. That's what I write about. I was a live guest on the Kelly Clarkson Show. I am highlighted in the seventh edition of Jim Trelease's million-copy bestselling book, "The Read-Aloud Handbook" because of my reading to children. My class has designed quilts that hang as permanent displays at the National Liberty Museum in Philadelphia, the Fisher House at the Boston VA Hospital, and the Massachusetts State House in Boston.

  7. A lovely symbol for the kids’ summer growth. And some hints in here about your book? Best of luck with the process, my friend. Hugs.

It really felt like a perfect symbol for children’s growth. My book is about a dog and his girl, the old steam train, the engineer and his red bandana, and a birthday party. It has adventure, fear, friendship…all the important elements. Fingers crossed, as the editing was grueling (I picked the toughest editor on purpose.) I was shocked when she called my query ‘phenomenal’. So now I submit in September, as August is ‘dead month’ for agents. Thank you so much for your comments and good wishes, my friend.
