The plants and flowers are thriving,
all but the little guy in the back,
spreading his ‘wings’ and trying to grow.

Winged Victory is growing a baby flower.
Winged Victory is the end of summer and summer camp,
watching children thrive and grow,
braving the big water slide.
Winged Victory is nailing the query letter,
with mega kudos from the picky editor,
and immediately knowing the book comps.
It is Harry the Dirty Dog and Guji Guji
riding The Polar Express.
“The most interesting thing in the world to me has always been a free, spontaneous expression of human nature – whether in a thought, a symphony, a poem, a painting, a statue, or an act of everyday life that shows the qualities of mind, heart, and soul which, in my opinion, are the indispensables in any work of art.”
~Letter by Dr. Albert C. Barnes to
Leopold Stokowski, March 18, 1925~

I love it when nature inspires creativity. Is your victory forthcoming?
I love when that happens, too. My victory was nailing the query. Now it’s time to submit to agents. Hooray!
I wish you all the best, Jennie!
Thank you, Dan! 🙂
A beautiful and uplifting post Jennie 💜
Thank you, Willow. 💕
A pleasure 💜💜
Nature is the best inspiration any of us can have. Nicely done, Jennie.
Best wishes, Pete.
Yes, it really is. Best to you, Pete. Glad you enjoyed.
I love when nature imitates art or vice versa. Enjoy what is left of the summer
I do, too! Best to you, Darlene.
That was a beautiful read to start my day with Jennie! Best of luck with the query!
I’m so glad, Deborah. Many thanks!
Thank goodness for nature it has the effect of brightening our days just as this post has…:)
It does indeed! Many thanks for your kind words, Carol. 😍
A lovely symbol for the kids’ summer growth. And some hints in here about your book? Best of luck with the process, my friend. Hugs.
It really felt like a perfect symbol for children’s growth. My book is about a dog and his girl, the old steam train, the engineer and his red bandana, and a birthday party. It has adventure, fear, friendship…all the important elements. Fingers crossed, as the editing was grueling (I picked the toughest editor on purpose.) I was shocked when she called my query ‘phenomenal’. So now I submit in September, as August is ‘dead month’ for agents. Thank you so much for your comments and good wishes, my friend.
I love “brutal” editors! What a wise choice. Wishing you the best of luck.
Yes, I love brutal editors. One of my favorite authors, Kate DiCamillo, talks about her editor and how terrible it is… but how wonderful it really is. I know you understand. Many thanks, Diana.
Yes! My editor shreds my work. I love it. What a gift.
YES!
Great memories, between Winged Victory and Polar Express.
I’m so glad, Jacqui!
Fingers crossed, Jennie
Thank you, Don.
Good luck Jennie!
Thanks, FR!
Very nice post, Jenny.
Thank you, Anneli.
Oops! I meant to write “Jennie.” Sorry!
No worries, it happens all the time.😀
Love this beautiful view of Winged Victory, Dawn! So inspiring!
Jennie – I’m so sorry I said Dawn! Momentarily disoriented about which blog I clicked through to. My apologies!
No worries. If you knew how many times I’ve done that…😅
All the best on your query process, Jennie. Nailing the letter is a big step forward.
Thank you, John. Yes, nailing the query letter is huge. My editor is so hard, which is a good thing. You don’t want to know how many edits and revisions in the book. When she read the query letter she said it was phenomenal, which was a a shock. So now submissions can begin in earnest.
Do the research on the recipients of your query’s. Best wishes. on your search.
Yes!! 🙂
Love Harry the dirty dog. Used to read that to my kids endlessly!
Yes, yes!! I’m so glad you know this wonderful book, Opher. Every child loves Harry the Dirty Dog, and I continue to read it to children. Lucky them, lucky me. Thank you.
this is such a huge victory in itself, Jennie! may the rest of the process continue to grow! well done and best to you
Thanks so much, Beth. Yes, it is a huge victory, and I’m driving forward. I’ll keep you posted.❤️
please do, Jennie –
😍
Lovely, Jennie. Luck!!
Thank you, Mike!

Thank you.
All my kids loved it!
Wonderful! I’m so glad, and that’s one of many reasons you were a great teacher and father.
Lovely and nature is always beautiful and creative. Very nicely done Jennie 😊
Thank you, Kamal! 💕
Congratulations of whatever victories come your way. I remember Harry the Dirty Dog but couldn’t tell you much about it.
Thank you, Ally. The fact that you remember Harry the Dirty Dog tells you it was (and still is) a wonderful book. That’s big.
Always welcome Jennie 😊😊
You are publishing a book? How wonderful! Congratulations!
I love the second photo showing up close how the flower looks like it is about to take off!
Finishing the book and also the query letter is (and was) huge. Next begins the agent search. Yes, the flower looks like it’s flying!
fascinating; good luck with the book 🙂 I know two of the three books — I read them to my kids — but I don’t know the Guji one —
You read great books to your kids! Guji Guji is not as well known, but so good! Thank you.
Hi Jennie, a fun post. Good luck with your query process.
😀
Where would the developing world be without the liberty of free flowing expression? Spot on with the final quote.
Well said and so true, Steve.
I love your riff on winged victory!
Thank you, Liz!
You’re welcome, Jennie!
