Gloria has been everywhere this year – except with me. She had a sleepover at my house last night! When it was time for her to go to bed, she wanted a story (of course), so I read to her Goodnight Moon, our classroom book we read every day before chapter reading.

Gloria knows the book well, so she was excited for me to read it to her.
She smiled at the well-worn pages.
She knew that’s why the book is well-loved.
I hope you enjoy the video
as much as I enjoyed reading aloud to Gloria.
More to come on our sleepover, reading her journal. Stay tuned!

About Jennie
I have been teaching preschool for over forty years. This is my passion. I believe that children have a voice, and that is the catalyst to enhance or even change the learning experience. Emergent curriculum opens young minds. It's the little things that happen in the classroom that are most important and exciting. That's what I write about.
I was a live guest on the Kelly Clarkson Show. I am highlighted in the seventh edition of Jim Trelease's million-copy bestselling book, "The Read-Aloud Handbook" because of my reading to children. My class has designed quilts that hang as permanent displays at the National Liberty Museum in Philadelphia, the Fisher House at the Boston VA Hospital, and the Massachusetts State House in Boston.

I love it, Jennie!
Thanks, GP!
what a great idea, Jennie! the kids will love it
They will! Thanks, Beth.
i love how you are always expanding on lessons so naturally, each time knowing what the children will love
Thank you, Beth. It’s the best and most natural part of teaching, as you know.
Delightful!☺️
Gloria and you know how to make us of all ages smile.
This is delightful, Jennie. Thanks for sharing it with us.
So sweet and beautiful Jennie. The kids will love your story 🤗👍
🥰
Hi Jennie, what a delightful reading. I enjoyed it very much.
I’m so glad, Robbie. Thank you.
That’s a world worth living in, Jennie.
It is. Thanks, Jacqui.
You reading to Gloria is a complete delight! Thank you for giving her a sleepover, Jennie.
Best wishes, Pete.
I’m glad you enjoyed this, Pete. Her sleepover was the best, and I made sure to cover her with her Peace Quilt when we went to bed. Best to you!
Oh the stories Gloria could tell. Thanks for sharing -I love this!
Thank you! She is a gem.
Gloria was mesmerised… she loved it!
She really did! I’m glad you could tell.
Gloria’s calendar tends to fill up rapidly, so it was nice she had a chance to stop by for a visit.🙂
Yes, she has a busy social life. I was lucky that she could squeeze in a visit with me. 😀
I agree, Jennie. You were graced with her presence for a while! 🙂
Lucky me!
That was lovely!
Aww, Jennie, I love this! I see I have some catching up to do. I didn’t know I had been dropped from your followers list. I’m back and happy to be here.
Hooray! The same thing has happened to me on occasion with followers. It must be the WP gremlins. 🙂
Must be!
So cute!
😍
Love this!
Thanks, John. 😍
A terrific reading, Jennie, thanks. This was a beloved book when our little one was a little one. I still wonder why the title isn’t “Goodnight Everyone” instead of just the moon. I suspect a publisher choice here. Thanks again for the reading.
I’m glad to know it was a beloved book in your house, too. I love (and agree) with your title recommendation. A sad story is how the children’s librarian at the NYC public library thought the book was silly and refused to carry the book in the library. Really! It was many years before that changed. Glad you enjoyed the reading!
I can tell you that the silly book took away the fear of the night and falling asleep for my daughter. The understanding that all things go to sleep was a big comfort.
Well said, John. That’s exactly what it does, and you know it firsthand. Shame on the NYC children’s librarian.
Full of themselves for sure
Yup!
That is so beautiful Jennie….💜💜
Aww… thanks so much, Willow. 🥰
Wonderful:)
😍
I’ll bet Gloria was THRILLED to be at a sleepover at the teacher’s house. I loved the Goodnight, Moon reading.
She was! I’m glad you enjoyed the reading. Thank you, Liz!
You’re welcome, Jennie! Please say Hi to Gloria for me.
Will do!
Thanks!
😀
This is wonderful! Jennie, I finally am buying new baby books for my soon-to-be here grandson. I have my whole picture book collection, but no baby books!
Brings back memories of Rapper Jennie and her djembe drum. Wasn’t that also Good Night, Moon? If I know you like I think I do, you’ll be writing an entry in Gloria’s diary.
Yes! Rapper Jennie did Goodnight Moon! There will definitely be a journal entry! I did a video of me reading Gloria’s journal, with Gloria by my side, but I have to add the journal photos and entries to make it work for a blog post. Soon! In the meantime I have to post about robots. 🙂
Wouldn’t it be nice if Gloria could tell you a story? Happy to see this, teacher.
That would be wonderful. I’m sure she has many stories to tell!
Awwww Jennie your little ones are going to be so chuffed to see how much Gloria loved her weekend and bedtime story with teacher 🙂
They loved it! Also, I put the video on our Aqua Room YouTube Channel so parents could easily see it. 😀
Oh Jennie how lovely you really think about everyone when you teach 🙂 x
Thanks so much, Carol. 🥰
I hope your classroom children get to see this video. It’s just too sweet.
We showed it to them and they loved it! I put it on our Aqua Room YouTube Channel, too, so parents could see it. Remember when Covid hit and I began reading everyday to children? Now, the new parents are in the know. Thank you, Marlene!
I see your YouTube channel every now and then as it pops up in my favorites feed.
Awww…. I’m so glad. Thanks, Marlene!
Gloria is such a delight, Jennie. Thanks for this. Happy New Year — and hugs.
So glad you enjoyed, Teagan! Hugs!
I bet the kids love this!!
They did!
A joy to listen to and watch Jennie. ❤
I’m so glad, Debby! 😀
❤
Very sweet. Gloria seemed to really enjoy her special time with you and hearing the story again!
She did, Marcia! Thank you.
You are really having a fulltime job, Jennie! On the other hand Gloria surely wants to keep the time in the picnic basket as short as possible. 😉 xx Michael
It is definitely a fulltime job, but oh so much fun and teaching. I bought Gloria a small dog bed for a place for her on the couch. No more picnic basket. 😀 Best to you, Michael!
