Thursday is my Read-Aloud day at the Groton Public Library. When I arrived, the head children’s librarian was beside herself.
“Jennie! Jennie! The Amanda books are here!”
And then she showed me all the books. Wow! Nine books.

Of course we had to have our picture taken with all the books.

Thank you to the Groton Public Library for carrying the Amanda books. Thank you, Darlene Foster, for authoring such an exciting series of books for children. Adventure is always a big draw for children’s books; yet when history, geography, friendship, and conflict are included…well, it doesn’t get better than that. Nancy Drew, move over!

About Jennie
I have been teaching preschool for over thirty-five years. This is my passion. I believe that children have a voice, and that is the catalyst to enhance or even change the learning experience. Emergent curriculum opens young minds. It's the little things that happen in the classroom that are most important and exciting. That's what I write about.
I was a live guest on the Kelly Clarkson Show. I am highlighted in the seventh edition of Jim Trelease's million-copy bestselling book, "The Read-Aloud Handbook" because of my reading to children. My class has designed quilts that hang as permanent displays at the National Liberty Museum in Philadelphia, the Fisher House at the Boston VA Hospital, and the Massachusetts State House in Boston.
Great news for the readers, and for Darlene. 🙂
Best wishes, Pete.
Yes, and yes. Thank you, Pete.
Congratulations, Darlene!
I second your congratulations, Stevie.
Thanks Jennie.
You’re welcome!
2 book champions, right here!
Thank you, Beth!

I know what you mean! SUCH a fabulous series!
It really is, Barb. I can’t tell you how happy I am that our public library now has the collection.
Awesome! Awesome!
Yes! Yes!
This is just so awesome and has made my day! To think young people (and young at-heart people) will be able to check out my books in Groton, Massachusetts. Dreams do come true!!
I am so thrilled, Darlene, for you and for all the children in Groton who will be the newest Amanda fans. Yes, dreams do come true! ❤️
This makes my heart and soul smile HUGE! What an amazing accomplishment for Darlene and a huge benefit for kids! I just want to reach through the screen and hug you! 💛
Awww… thank you for the big hug, Karla. I know Darlene is smiling from ear to ear. 🥰
It’s my blessing! ❤️
😍
Hurrah for our public libraries (sadly under attack in many parts of the USA)!!!
Yes, a big hurrah! Our public libraries are one of our most important institutions.
I’m so excited for you, the library and Darlene. She’s worked hard to write all of these books and get them published.
I was like a kid in a candy store when the head children’s librarian told me the books were in. We had so much fun posing for a photo. I’m very excited for Darlene, well-deserved, indeed.
I’m so happy for you both.
😀
How great is this! I can think of no more satisfying feeling for a writer than to realize a new batch of kids will enjoy your books. Now, you need to get Darlene to come to Groton. 😊 I’m happy for Darlene and for all the children who will get to read her books.
I knew you would be as thrilled as I am! The head librarian and I were like two kids in a candy store looking at the books and posing for a photo. I am so very happy for Darlene! The children in Groton are in for a treat.
I was waiting for the photo of you juggling all nine books simultaneously. 🤣
Haha! 😅
Those books sound like real winners. They also sound like they would be banned in FL. Write on Darlene. Read on Jennie.
Yes, and yes! Love your ‘write on’ and ‘read on’, Don! Thank you.
I bought these for an 8 year old girl who LOVES them! Bravo!
That’s good news, John. Thanks! I’ve read three and love them all.
Sounds like a wonderful series, Jennie. I also want to say yay for all public libraries. Glad our local ones are still going stong!
Thank you, Bruce. It’s a great series (and I’m pickt
The Amanda books look as lovely as Darlene is. But move over Nancy Drew? I dunno, I have a big fond spot in my heart for Nancy.
I do, too. Still have all the ND books. That’s why I love the Amanda books. Incorporating different countries into the book series is a big plus, a ND+ 🙂
BIG SMILES here Jennie… Sometimes I wonder who are the Children in your school LOL 🙂 🤣😂🤣 and who get the most Excitement LOL…. WONDERFUL to see… ❤ 🙂
Thank you, Sue! 😀
Thanks for this introduction to these books, Jennie. I haven’t read any so will be checking them out.
You are welcome, Deborah. Happy reading!
A series is a great idea for children to learn and to get to know someone fictional.
Congratulations to Darlene
Yes!!
😊
Around the world with a good book!!
Exactly!

Hi Michael! Many thanks.
This sounds a bit like the arriving of the Mayflower. 😉 Congratulations to the Groton Public Library, and also to you Jennie. Great work! Best wishes, Michael
It was very exciting! I’m thrilled for Darlene, and for the library.
How wonderful, Jennie. My local library has them all in ebook form, but not physical books. I would love it if they got the books, so we could put them into kid’s hands.
For children, the hard copy is most important. Have you asked the library to carry the hard copies? Sometimes asking is all it takes. Thank you, Carla!
I asked and my local branch put in a request, but I guess it will depend on the county. There are 12 libraries in our county, so I don’t know how much pull the branches have. We shall see. 🤞🤞
Fingers crossed, indeed!
Jennie, that is so cool! Many thanks for sharing. Congrats to Darlene. Hugs all around.
Very cool, Teagan. Big congratulations to Darlene! Hugs! 💕
Congrats to Darlene. Thank you so much Jennie for sharing this lovely post.
Yes, a big congrats to Darlene! I was so excited to share this. Many thanks, Kamal.
Yes absolutely. You are always welcome dear Jennie.
How exciting, Jennie. I haven’t read all of the books, but the ones I’ve read have been wonderful. Perfect for your library. Darlene is surely thrilled. 🙂
Thanks, Diana. It really is exciting. Hooray for Darlene!
Amazing Jennie! xx
😍
