Calm Before the Storm

My favorite intersection for sunsets,
appropriately named Sunset Farm.

Today a storm was brewing.
The view was as beautiful as a sunset.

The surprise was a rare hailstorm.

About Jennie

I have been teaching preschool for over thirty-five years. This is my passion. I believe that children have a voice, and that is the catalyst to enhance or even change the learning experience. Emergent curriculum opens young minds. It's the little things that happen in the classroom that are most important and exciting. That's what I write about. I was a live guest on the Kelly Clarkson Show. I am highlighted in the seventh edition of Jim Trelease's million-copy bestselling book, "The Read-Aloud Handbook" because of my reading to children. My class has designed quilts that hang as permanent displays at the National Liberty Museum in Philadelphia, the Fisher House at the Boston VA Hospital, and the Massachusetts State House in Boston.

I just Zoomed with my brothers today, and my New Jersey brother said they just had a doozie of a storm too. We seldom get the lightning and thunderstorms I remember so vividly from my childhood in the Dakotas.

It was beautiful to watch. I’m not surprised your brother got the storm. I’ll bet thunderstorms are far more intense (and scary) in the Dakotas.

  21. I love photos like that with dark storms in the background, Jennie. We just got a foot of snow last night (in Oregon). So strange. I’m enjoying the wonder. 🙂

  23. HI Jennie, a lovely post all round. We often get hail and, while I love the sound on our metal roof, it destroys the garden.
