About Jennie

I have been teaching preschool for over forty years. This is my passion. I believe that children have a voice, and that is the catalyst to enhance or even change the learning experience. Emergent curriculum opens young minds. It's the little things that happen in the classroom that are most important and exciting. That's what I write about. I was a live guest on the Kelly Clarkson Show. I am highlighted in the seventh edition of Jim Trelease's million-copy bestselling book, "The Read-Aloud Handbook" because of my reading to children. My class has designed quilts that hang as permanent displays at the National Liberty Museum in Philadelphia, the Fisher House at the Boston VA Hospital, and the Massachusetts State House in Boston.

      I feel exactly the same way. I thought of Amanda in Holland and how you gave tribute to Anne.

        Anne Frank has been my hero for a long time and had to be included in the book. In fact, that same Grade Three teacher, Miss Roll, who I have mentioned a few times, was who introduced me to Anne Frank and her story. Another example of a teacher making a difference.

        I just love this!! Anne has been my hero since childhood, too. Yes, you have often mentioned wonderful Miss Roll. I hope she has a signed copy of Amanda in Holland. 🙂

    I’m an optimist and believe that to be true. What’s remarkable is for Anne Frank to have that attitude, considering all she went through.

      I am the optimist, too. You are so right, Pete. A positive attitude is one thing, yet she had it in spite of adversities the rest of us could never imagine.
