About Jennie

I have been teaching preschool for over thirty-five years. This is my passion. I believe that children have a voice, and that is the catalyst to enhance or even change the learning experience. Emergent curriculum opens young minds. It's the little things that happen in the classroom that are most important and exciting. That's what I write about. I was a live guest on the Kelly Clarkson Show. I am highlighted in the seventh edition of Jim Trelease's million-copy bestselling book, "The Read-Aloud Handbook" because of my reading to children. My class has designed quilts that hang as permanent displays at the National Liberty Museum in Philadelphia, the Fisher House at the Boston VA Hospital, and the Massachusetts State House in Boston.

Congratulations! Though I am not usually inclined to watch TV, I must and will view this today. You are the guiding light for teachers and parents…grandparents too. “One child, one teacher, one pen and one book can change the world.” Malala Yousafzai. Thank-you!

    • Jennie says:

I can’t say enough wonderful things about the show and everyone there. Still in shock over the big surprise. Please email me the address to write a thank you to Alex. My sister in Nashville (Dollar Store headquarters) is getting me contact information for a thank you letter. People these days don’t say thank you enough. Best to you, John.

  18. Elizabeth says:

Just watched the episode segment featuring you. Thanks for the notice because I never would have known otherwise. I loved the no makeup makeup he did for you. You looked great and not at all covered in glop as I was afraid would happen. Your joy was contagious and very genuine. How fun that the West Virginia folks got another big gift of money. I had no idea about Dollar General and will quit being obnoxious about them as I see they return money to the communities they serve.
