Hope Springs…

Mitch Teemley

Hope doesn’t float, nope, it springs. Around this time every year God reminds us he hasn’t given up on us yet.

“Hope springs eternal in the human breast
Man never is, but always to be blest
The soul, uneasy, and confin’d from home
Rests and expatiates in a life to come”

~Alexander Pope

to be alive
beneath cherry blossoms”

About Jennie

I have been teaching preschool for over thirty years. This is my passion. I believe that children have a voice, and that is the catalyst to enhance or even change the learning experience. Emergent curriculum opens young minds. It's the little things that happen in the classroom that are most important and exciting. That's what I write about. I am highlighted in the the new edition of Jim Trelease's bestselling book, "The Read-Aloud Handbook" because of my reading to children. My class has designed quilts that hang as permanent displays at both the National Liberty Museum in Philadelphia, and the Fisher House at the Boston VA Hospital.

    • Jennie says:

Happy spring to you as well, Norah!

      • Norah says:

Thank you, Jennie. I’m preparing to enjoy our autumn at the moment. 🙂

      • Jennie says:

I knew that! Silly me. It does seem odd for both of us that our seasons are reversed. 🙂

      • Norah says:

It does. But there are many more of you in the Northern Hemisphere than there are of us in the Southern.
After writing that I had to look it up to see what the difference is. Apparently, 90% of the world’s population live in the Northern Hemisphere. That’s quite remarkable. But I guess it’s not surprising when almost 70% of the Earth’s land mass is in the Northern Hemisphere and only a little more than 30% in the south. And I guess that includes Antarctica too.

      • Jennie says:

How interesting! I didn’t realize the percentages were so vastly different. When you consider the land mass it does make sense. So, happy fall to you, Norah. 🙂

      • Norah says:

I found it fascinating too, Jennie, so I was pleased you prompted the research.
Thank you for your wishes. I’m enjoying the (slightly) cooler weather.

      • Jennie says:

Best to you, Norah. Enjoy the cooler weather.

      • Norah says:

And to you, Jennie. Thank you.

I went through those wonderful images as a slideshow as he makes possible. The best is the small child who went for a walk and came back with a deer!

  12. Seeing a photo like this gives me hope that there’s positive news around the corner, and I love this photo because you’ve brought nature to the forefront and in doing so encouraged positivity and hope which springs beautifully in this beautiful composition.

    Beautiful photo! 🙂
