Winnie was a real bear btw and she was CDN! From the Whitefish area in Ontario.
Yes! There is a wonderful picture book, “Finding Winnie. The true story of Winnie the Pooh.” It takes the bear’s story from the train in Winnipeg across Canada to the ocean in WWI, and how the bear was a mascot for the Canadian Army until he went to the London zoo. You will LOVE this book, Wayne.
A friend sent me a book. Her temperament was excellent! She had either a brother or sister? The prospector shot her mother and tried to shoot the other cub but missed. He sold her for $20 to Colebourn at the train station in Whitefish Ontario.
