Happy Fourth of July!

About Jennie

I have been teaching preschool for over thirty-five years. This is my passion. I believe that children have a voice, and that is the catalyst to enhance or even change the learning experience. Emergent curriculum opens young minds. It's the little things that happen in the classroom that are most important and exciting. That's what I write about. I was a live guest on the Kelly Clarkson Show. I am highlighted in the seventh edition of Jim Trelease's million-copy bestselling book, "The Read-Aloud Handbook" because of my reading to children. My class has designed quilts that hang as permanent displays at the National Liberty Museum in Philadelphia, the Fisher House at the Boston VA Hospital, and the Massachusetts State House in Boston.

I wouldn’t have the dexterity to be able to do that. Very clever! 🙂

My daughter had a totally homemade wedding and had sheets of red sugar paste for us all to cut into roses, the night before. I was still finishing crocheting the shawl to go with her wedding dress so was spared that. They did look good.

  9. Talented indeed. 😀 I hope you’re having a great holiday weekend, Jennie! Hugs.

I am! It’s been a year since we’ve seen our daughter. Yes, we are social distancing. Neighbors with a one-year-old (she loves me) stopped over. Friends who live at the hill that overlooks Mount Wachusett stopped by, guitar in hand. We were able to carefully be outside and around the pool. Perfect day.

Oh, she made the cupcakes and I did the ‘forever’ clean up. 😳😩😅

  11. I hope you and your family had a good Fourth of July! The cupcakes look too pretty to eat–but I would have eaten them anyway. Yum.

    • Jennie says:

We did, Liz. Our daughter the artist, from painting to sculpting to cupcakes, was here from Bend, OR. We were good about social distancing. Thank you. Those cupcakes were like eating a wedding cake. Yum! Hope you’re enjoying the holiday weekend!

I see Vermont museums have opened. Hooray! I’m connecting with the Bennington Museum to do a unit on Grandma Moses in my classroom next year. So excited!

  12. I’m hungry! That is amazing bakery talent.

  13. Elizabeth says:

She makes it look easy. I don’t want to share my disastrous effects with piping!

  14. YES—SOMEBODY IS! 😀

Hope you had a great holiday, Jennie. The rose making was beautiful. I might try that. What? A girly thing? No way! A fun thing. It requires patience? Oh, never mind, then. 😂
