Happy Valentine’s Day

Happy Valentine’s Day.

Love, Jennie

About Jennie

I have been teaching preschool for over thirty-five years. This is my passion. I believe that children have a voice, and that is the catalyst to enhance or even change the learning experience. Emergent curriculum opens young minds. It's the little things that happen in the classroom that are most important and exciting. That's what I write about. I was a live guest on the Kelly Clarkson Show. I am highlighted in the seventh edition of Jim Trelease's million-copy bestselling book, "The Read-Aloud Handbook" because of my reading to children. My class has designed quilts that hang as permanent displays at the National Liberty Museum in Philadelphia, the Fisher House at the Boston VA Hospital, and the Massachusetts State House in Boston.

    • Jennie says:

Thank you, Steve. I hope the kids had fun at your crossing today. 😍

      • srbottch says:

I told them old Valentine Day stories❤️

      • Jennie says:

Like what? Blog post material? Did they tell you any stories? What did they think of yours? Honestly, I don’t have any Valentine’s Day stories to tell the children.

I asked if they had any Secret Valentine at school. Got ‘no, maybe, nah and not now’. Told them about my 3rd Grade experience when the teacher said, ‘okay, exchange cards’, and the wrong girl came running toward me with a card in her hand, and I thought, ‘noooooo, not her!’ That wasn’t nice, was it. This week. I reminded them of Abe’s bday and how he died. Of course, yesterday, I reminded them that Galileo went to court in 1633 to defend himself against heresy charges when he offered that the planets actually revolved around the sun, not the opposite. He was found guilty of heresy and sentenced to house arrest. The high schoolers generally knew the story. I was impressed. Tomorrow is Galileo ‘s bday. Yes, I’ll remind them.

      • Jennie says:

        Awesome!! ❤️ Thanks, Steve!

      • srbottch says:

Today is Galileo’s bday. Naturally, we talked about it. I told them that G’s is probably mostly well known for being mentioned in Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody song. 😂😂😉🙀

      • Jennie says:

Now, I didn’t know that. I need to be a student at your crossing, Steve. 🙂

      • srbottch says:

How about that Queen reference? Anything for a chuckle. By the way, i ranninto a parent at Wegmans today who gave m a big ‘Thanks’ for doing my job. Jennie, this is a terrific job. I’m surprised more peeps don’t line up for it. Maybe the -0 to -20F scares them😂. And I would love having you cross at my post. You’d be smiling all the rest of the day….wait, you already do that.

      • Jennie says:

Oh, I just love this, Steve!! 😀
