Gloria at the Super Bowl Parade

Families understand Gloria and include her in their lives.

She went to the big Patriots Super Bowl parade in downtown Boston!

Gloria makes a difference outside of the walls of the classroom, too.

Thank you, Gloria.

About Jennie

I have been teaching preschool for over thirty years. This is my passion. I believe that children have a voice, and that is the catalyst to enhance or even change the learning experience. Emergent curriculum opens young minds. It's the little things that happen in the classroom that are most important and exciting. That's what I write about. I am highlighted in the the new edition of Jim Trelease's bestselling book, "The Read-Aloud Handbook" because of my reading to children. My class has designed quilts that hang as permanent displays at both the National Liberty Museum in Philadelphia, and the Fisher House at the Boston VA Hospital.

  4. That’s a wonderful idea, Jennie. The parents need to be involved with this, and what a great way to do it. You are so wonderful! Thank you so much!

Good to see those parents engaging with Gloria, and totally ‘getting it’. 🙂

Jennie, I’m smiling at your post and photo! A great day had by all, full of joy, laughter. Wonderful how Gloria came along too! I bet there was a lot to discuss in the classroom the next day!

    • Jennie says:

Oh, yes! She told the children all about it. Of course the little boy was bursting with excitement. Thanks, Annika. I’m glad it made you, smile! 😀

  12. srbottch says:

Maybe I’ll have to borrow her next year. Can she drive to Buffalo?😉🤪🍺

    • Jennie says:

Gloria would love that! 😀 Actually, this is a great idea, Steve. Does your school have preschool and kindergarten, or just high school and older grades?

      • srbottch says:

Well, while this is Bill’s territory, we’re 60 miles from Buffalo, so my comment was a bit tongue-in-cheek. ‘My’ 2 schools are middle and high school. In the district, there is a third school for 3-5 and a third school for K-2. Next year, K will be full day, as other towns in the area have done. My town does not have pre-K.

While I knew your comment was tongue-in-cheek (I loved it!), my teacher mind kicked into gear. I could see Gloria hanging out with the kids and doing some cool stuff… wearing her Patriots jersey might not get her any brownie points. 😀

      • srbottch says:

My town of Brighton is not only diverse in ethnicity but with sport teams, as well. I see kids wearing Jets, Dolphins, Pats, Bills, Vikings, Bengals, and in baseball, the ‘evil empire’ Yankees lead the pack but our Sox are second with the rest of the pretenders…😉

      • Jennie says:

That is wonderful, Steve! I often think if I had grown up with diversity, I would have been where I am right now at the age of 40. Make sense? Love your description of the Red Sox and the pretenders. Priceless!

      • srbottch says:

That’s the kid thing about Instagram. I can hang out and ‘chat’ with ‘kids’ like you and feel like one, myself. Here I am, a ‘retiree’, hanging with you ‘youngsters’ on IG and talking to even younger ‘youngsters’ every morning in wind, rain, snow, cold and lovin’ it. Have a great weekend !

      • Jennie says:

        I love it, Steve!

      • srbottch says:

By the way, , did you see my last story? It had a bit of a nasty title but it was a nice story, in my humble opinion. 😎

      • Jennie says:

When did you post it? I’m behind (as usual).

  13. I think this was really great fun for her. Excellent! Michael

  14. Norah says:

  15. Sarah says:
