Chapter reading together was over, long over.
I peeked in to say one last goodnight.
Reading by flashlight.
Just wonderful.

About Jennie
I have been teaching preschool for over forty years. This is my passion. I believe that children have a voice, and that is the catalyst to enhance or even change the learning experience. Emergent curriculum opens young minds. It's the little things that happen in the classroom that are most important and exciting. That's what I write about.
I was a live guest on the Kelly Clarkson Show. I am highlighted in the seventh edition of Jim Trelease's million-copy bestselling book, "The Read-Aloud Handbook" because of my reading to children. My class has designed quilts that hang as permanent displays at the National Liberty Museum in Philadelphia, the Fisher House at the Boston VA Hospital, and the Massachusetts State House in Boston.
Oh I spent many wonderful nights this way. Now I can just leave the light on:)
It’s wonderful! 🙂
What a super scene that would be, Jennie.
It was the best! Thank you, John.
🙂
That made me smile. 🙂 Now the e-reader makes it easier to read in the dark. No flashlight required.
It really does! Making you smile makes my day, Marlene.
Love that sight!
Thanks, Ritu. It’s the best!
It really is! ❤
😀
Love it!
Ahh isnt that wonderful
It is!
Brings back some great memories! A wonderful sight.
One of the best, Darlene! Thank you.
I used to read under the covers so my parents wouldn’t see the light! I’d drop off to sleep now.
If only we had children’s energy!
I love this, Jennie.
Thank you, Robbie.
Such a great image. I never had to read with a torch, as I was allowed to keep the bedside lamp on until I fell asleep. I think we can all identify with that urge to read late into the night though.
Best wishes, Pete.
It’s one of the best feelings, Pete. I dearly wish all children had books to read, especially into the night.
Oh, I remember doing this as a child. Just wanting to finish that chapter and find out what happens next….priceless moments Jennie. 🙂
It’s the best! Thanks so much. 🙂
That’s precious.
Thanks, Dan. 😀
So many possibilities for that hungry heart! I used to be like that….unfortunately my reading has fallen by the wayside. My own fault and definitely something I should change! But I do hope to see that in my own children 💗
Glad you enjoyed this!
That’s awesome!
For the love of reading. 🙂 I read by flashlight every night in bed while my husband sleeps. 🙂
😀
Oh this brought back so many memories.. Love your poem..Jennie.. As the eldest of 5 I am afraid I was sent to be with the youngest.. And lights were always out in darker evenings.. So I had a flash light, and even though so the four of us girls shared two double beds in one room while my brother had the smallest bedroom.. .. I would read under the covers via flash light.. When they got older I would make up stories to tell them all at bedtime.. 🙂 This brought warm memories.. Thank you
This is lovely, Jennie! I hope you are having a great beginning of the school year. May each of your kids be inspired and blessed by love. 💜 Debbie
Thank you! 🙂
