Thank You, Superheroes

Today is National Superhero Day.

I want to thank all the Superheroes, the real ones, for everything you do. Moms and Dads, firefighters and police officers, doctors and nurses, soldiers and sailors, writers, artists, musicians… the list of heroes is a long one.

A Superhero is brave and caring, perseveres, takes risks, helps others, and saves the day. ย A Superhero makes a difference.

And, to all the teachers and children: together, you are the future. ย You are Superheroes. ย Thank you!

About Jennie

I have been teaching preschool for over thirty-five years. This is my passion. I believe that children have a voice, and that is the catalyst to enhance or even change the learning experience. Emergent curriculum opens young minds. It's the little things that happen in the classroom that are most important and exciting. That's what I write about. I was a live guest on the Kelly Clarkson Show. I am highlighted in the seventh edition of Jim Trelease's million-copy bestselling book, "The Read-Aloud Handbook" because of my reading to children. My class has designed quilts that hang as permanent displays at the National Liberty Museum in Philadelphia, the Fisher House at the Boston VA Hospital, and the Massachusetts State House in Boston.

  1. Jennie, your school children will and do have the best self esteem. The those gifts you have given them will be with them always and also, because of their self-respect and respect for others, they will also have a sense of ethics, kindness, understanding of others, and so much more – Joy, compassion, and lots of love to share. Thank you, Dan. On Friday I told the children that my favorite Superhero was Mighty Mouse. I showed them a clip of the opening and the theme song . So much fun! Then, we all talked about our favorite Superheroes. Spider Man was the most popular, followed by Batman. Of course we have spent much of the week talking about real Superheroes, so this was a fun break.
