My two favorite READ posters
from Literary Hub @ lithub.com

Dolly Parton has done more
for putting books into the hands of children
than anyone.
Bless you, Dolly.
Look at the books she is reading!
Every Very Hungry Caterpillar Day
is a good day.
I’m filled with joy.

Yo-Yo Ma is reading Goodnight Moon.
It doesn’t get better than that.
I recite this book to children every day,
just before chapter reading.
It’s a ritual that brings children comfort and language.
Yo-Yo’s beloved cello gets to enjoy the book.
P.S. Stay tuned for my favorite new picture books I read this summer.
Jennie
About Jennie
I have been teaching preschool for over forty years. This is my passion. I believe that children have a voice, and that is the catalyst to enhance or even change the learning experience. Emergent curriculum opens young minds. It's the little things that happen in the classroom that are most important and exciting. That's what I write about.
I was a live guest on the Kelly Clarkson Show. I am highlighted in the seventh edition of Jim Trelease's million-copy bestselling book, "The Read-Aloud Handbook" because of my reading to children. My class has designed quilts that hang as permanent displays at the National Liberty Museum in Philadelphia, the Fisher House at the Boston VA Hospital, and the Massachusetts State House in Boston.
Three favorites highlighted today, Jennie. Are you getting ready to begin school?
I’m glad you liked the three! School starts Monday for teachers, and the children start the following week. Am I ready? No. Am I excited? Yes! BTW, I just posted on FB about visitors this week, one of whom is your predecessor, Andy the Tool Man.
I’ll look for that. FB doesn’t show me the stuff I really want to see 😒
I know what you mean. Why don’t they show all the posts of the people I follow? Sheesh!
LOVE!
❤️
I love these posters too. When celebrities promote reading, that is the best!
Yes, yes!! These two posters spoke to me. 🙂
Cheers to public figures promoting to children!
Yes, big cheers!
Favorites and so nice to read them to the children. Nice post Jennie 👍👍👍
Thank you, Kamal! 😍
Always welcome Jennie 😊😊
Ah, Good Night Moon. A perennial favorite that parents everywhere remember reading with their children.
Yes, indeed!
Those are great posters, and a wonderful promotion to encourage reading. I’m looking forward to seeing your new list of picture books.
I’m glad you like them, Deborah. There were 100 on their web site, and these two screamed at me, loud and clear. I’ll post my new list of picture books next week.
Dolly Parton and Yo-yo Ma–I love both of them. I had no idea they promoted reading.
I had no idea Yo-Yo Ma promoted reading. Seeing him with his cello and Goodnight Moon was really wonderful. I did know Dolly Parton is big on literacy (because her father could not read) and has a huge foundation that gives books to children – millions. If I ever win the lottery, I will follow in Dolly’s footsteps.
its wonderful to see such hugely infuenchal stars winning children’s minds 💜💜😔
I feel exactly the same way! 😀
Dolly Parton is such a fine human being. Looks like Yo-Yo Man is too, just not as big a household world as Dolly.
Dolly really is a fine human being. Bless her for all she does for literacy. Her father never learned how to read. Yo-Yo Ma is wonderful, just not as well known outside the music circle. Mr. Rogers even did an episode on Yo-Yo Ma a long time ago.
I enoyed qworking with him
My goodness, that must have been wonderful. You have so many stories, Don.
I can see just why they are your favourite posters, dear Jennie.
Best wishes, Pete.
You know me well. Best to you, dear Pete.
Jennie, I love these so much! A huge thank you to Dolly, too, for providing books for our kids, birth to school age! She is selfless in her push for literacy for children! I love the other poster too, Jennie. Speaking of selfless literacy and children helpers~I think you need a poster, too! Sending hugs, prayers, and blessings as school begins again. 💕 📚
I am with you all the way on Dolly! She is a role model for me. Thank you for your kind words, Karla. You are like a feel-good blanket. 🥰
It’s my blessing, Jennie! Aww, I love that! A feel-good blanket! I want to be just that! That’s so sweet 🥰💕
You are, Karla. You are my feel good blanket, and the same blanket for others. You have been given a great gift from above to make others feel love and comforted. That is truly wonderful. ❤️
Jennie, this touched my heart this morning. For many reasons, it was balm to my soul. Thank you. 🥰♥️🥹❤️💕🙏🏻
Awww…I’m so glad! 😍
Love these posters, Jennie!
Me, too! Thanks, Wynne.
Great posters – I’d love to hear YoYo Ma’s Cello ‘read along’ with him! 😉
Ah, wouldn’t that be wonderful to hear?
Nice!
Thank you, Cindy!
These are special celebrities who don’t promote themselves, but BOOKS, and especially children’s books. Thanks for sharing these great posters. I imagine you’re busy getting ready for the new school year. My daughter, (teaches 6th grade science) has been cleaning/preparing/adding homey touches to her classroom for the past week.
Yes, yes, yes!! They really do. School starts tomorrow for teachers, and then the following week for children, although they have an orientation at the end of this week. I bet your daughter is excited and nervous, like me.🙂
I know these books are two of your favorites. I can’t wait to read Goodnight Moon to Jack and tell him about my friend Jennie.
You know me well! That’s so nice to say, Pete.🥰
I love these posters. Thanks for sharing, Jennie.
They’re really wonderful. The website has 100, famous people with all areas of reading.
😊
It’s wonderful to see two accomplished musicians supporting children’s literacy.
Hear, hear!
great, great choices! you need your own poster one day, as one of the biggest advocates for reading that I’ve ever known –
I knew you would like these, too. That’s so nice, Beth… thank you! 🥰
The best lesson I was ever taught as a child was how to read. It opens up a world…
Yes, yes, yes!!!
Awesome posters, Jennie. Two people who get it and use their fame for good. 🙂
Hear, hear! Thank you, Diana. 😀
I love the posters, Jennie.
I do, too! I actually went through all 100 posters on their website, and these two jumped out and grabbed me, big time. Thank you, Miriam.
Both great pics, Jennie and I know those are favourite books of yours as well. I have read both of those books over and over to my kids and grandkids.
I know you have read these books a million times, and that alone has given your children and grandchildren a great gift. I wish you had met or known Jim Trelease. Best to you, Carla.
Wonderful, Jennie. It’s so good to see picture books being promoted
I feel exactly the same way!
Dolly is a great champion for good causes. And Goodnight Moon is a Classic, as is Yo Yo Ma!
Hear, hear!
Dolly Parton is amazing with her philanthropy. ❤
She is! If I win a big lottery, I want to start a literacy foundation like hers.
