How To Catch a Leprechaun

About Jennie

I have been teaching preschool for over thirty-five years. This is my passion. I believe that children have a voice, and that is the catalyst to enhance or even change the learning experience. Emergent curriculum opens young minds. It's the little things that happen in the classroom that are most important and exciting. That's what I write about. I was a live guest on the Kelly Clarkson Show. I am highlighted in the seventh edition of Jim Trelease's million-copy bestselling book, "The Read-Aloud Handbook" because of my reading to children. My class has designed quilts that hang as permanent displays at the National Liberty Museum in Philadelphia, the Fisher House at the Boston VA Hospital, and the Massachusetts State House in Boston.

That’s a very harassed leprechaun! 🤣 good job all!

  6. I love it!! The children have faith in the efficacy of their trap, yet they acknowledge variables in leprechaun-trapping which are beyond their control.

It sounds like a perfect plan, Jennie. I love their ideas and enthusiasm.

Second graders always wanted to build leprechaun traps to. Imagination is a powerful tool. I always wondered if they actually thought their traps (usually made from construction paper) could really catch anything. Unlike your children, my students never had much of an idea of what they would do if they actually caught a leprechaun, though finding a pot of gold or a rainbow were frequently mentioned.😊

  9. Your students have just the perfect plan to catch a leprechaun, Jennie. 🙂 🙂

Children’s creativity is by far the best. Thank you, Fab Four. Happy weekend.

      Hi Jennie

we wouldn’t agree that children’s creativity is the best. It’s different but not the best. In M. Csikszentmihalyi’s system, and he is the leading scientist who researches human creativity, children’s creativity is not creative at all. This has to do with what you make with your artefact.

      All the best
