In my last blog post, I included a favorite song I sing with children, “The Sun and the Rain Make a Rainbow.” I searched through YouTube to find the song- nothing. So, I just sang it myself. Fellow blogger Debby at https://dgkayewriter.com/ suggested I put it on YouTube since no one else had.
I have been teaching preschool for over forty years. This is my passion. I believe that children have a voice, and that is the catalyst to enhance or even change the learning experience. Emergent curriculum opens young minds. It's the little things that happen in the classroom that are most important and exciting. That's what I write about.
I was a live guest on the Kelly Clarkson Show. I am highlighted in the seventh edition of Jim Trelease's million-copy bestselling book, "The Read-Aloud Handbook" because of my reading to children. My class has designed quilts that hang as permanent displays at the National Liberty Museum in Philadelphia, the Fisher House at the Boston VA Hospital, and the Massachusetts State House in Boston.
Great work, Jennie. I could not access YT from your video, but found it easily online. I left a ‘thumbs-up’, then shared the video on Twitter. Let’s get you to the 5,000 views!
Best wishes, Pete.
That would be wonderful! Just go to YouTube and type in the song title. Voila! Let me know how you make out. When you do the ‘grass’ part with your fingers, make sure your palms face toward you, so the grass goes down. 😀 Best to you, Will.
I hadn’t thought of that, Diana. It does seem that there’s a need. I will plan to sing more children’s songs on YouTube. It’s what I love to do (second to reading aloud.) 😀
What an adorable song! Thank you for sharing it with us, Jennie–I’m sure your students must love it. You have such a calm, gentle speaking voice! I’m visualizing your students responding well to that too.
I don’t know! Now, I’m well over 11,000, on my way to 12,000. Who are these people? Part of me wants to ask, “Who listens to a preschool teacher singing at home without any music?” Another part of me knows children connect with what is real, no fancy-dancy videos. Children haven’t changed, but technology has. Perhaps I’m ‘speaking’ to the the ‘real children’.
Today at school was orientation for children. I gathered children together with music, playing the autoharp and singing a few simple songs. They were glued. That’s what children need.
Jennie, you aren’t rambling, you’re a phenom, lol! I am curious too, I mean, ya, you’re famous, but so many views so fast is fantastic! Sheesh, too bad my podcasts are geared toward the other end of the spectrum of life or I’d ask you to send me a few thousand viewers. Lolol. ❤
Way to rock YouTube, Jennie! I just added to that hit list 🙂
‘Hit list’…that made me smile. I figured I’d get 25 views, max. Who knew? Thanks, Dan. Sincerely, Rocker Jennie. 😅
I’d be happy to be a roadie when you go on tour 😉
We’ll knock ’em dead!
That’s wonderful, Jennie ✨
Thanks so much, Alethea

Way to go!!!
Thanks, Will! Who knew there were so many people who viewed the video?
I am going to see if I can figure out how to share it with my Music Together families… and I am also going to learn it myself!

Apologies for rambling, Debby.
