Jennie Video on The Kelly Clarkson Show

For my blogging friends who are unable to see The Kelly Clarkson Show, here is a clip of my part on the show.  Many bloggers have wanted to see me on the show, so here I am:

I cannot say enough about Kelly, her team, and the ‘bottom line’ of everyone on the show – kindness.  Everything I do in teaching is rooted in kindness, and how wonderful it is to see, first hand, big stars and a mega show that hold the same values.

About Jennie

I have been teaching preschool for over thirty years. This is my passion. I believe that children have a voice, and that is the catalyst to enhance or even change the learning experience. Emergent curriculum opens young minds. It's the little things that happen in the classroom that are most important and exciting. That's what I write about. I am highlighted in the the new edition of Jim Trelease's bestselling book, "The Read-Aloud Handbook" because of my reading to children. My class has designed quilts that hang as permanent displays at both the National Liberty Museum in Philadelphia, and the Fisher House at the Boston VA Hospital.

thank you for sharing this, and from everything i’ve ever heard, you are so right about kelly and the people from her show

    • Jennie says:

I’m glad you enjoyed it, Beth. And, I’m glad you heard the same thing about Kelly and her people – all true.

      • Jay says:

hello there! I saw the show with Kelly Clarkson. I wanted to ask if you could recommend some books for my 5 year old boy. He loves for us to read to him and he just started kindergarten. We want to encourage reading with him and were hoping you could recommend some books. Thank you! – Jay in Alabama

      • Jennie says:

Hi Jay. I’m happy to recommend some good books. The Wild Robot, by Peter Brown (if he loves it, and he will, there’s a sequel), The Story of Doctor Dolittle, by Hugh Lofting (nothing like the terrible movie), Mr. Popper’s Penguins, and My Father’s Dragon. These are chapter books for you to read aloud to him. The Lighthouse series and Gooseberry Park series are fabulous. Next year you can read the Little House series to him. I hope this helps. Thank you for reading to your son. It makes all the difference in the world.

  12. willedare says:

I was even more impressed by your positive experience when I read a little bit online about Ms. Clarkson’s relatively recent and litigious divorce. Sounds like she is able to set that personal drama aside and welcome her guests with kindness and enthusiasm. Well done all around!!!

  13. Maggie says:

Congratulations, Jennie. I know this generous gift rom Dollar General warmed your heart in a profound way.

    • Jennie says:

Oh, nooo!!! You aren’t the only one. It seems that anyone overseas cannot get the video. But, Beetley Pete was able to see it from John’s Twitter account. He’s the hubby of the EP. I’m working on this…

  22. So wonderful, Jennie! You’re a natural on TV and I’m sure in the classroom:)

  23. petespringerauthor says:

I think my favorite part was listening to Eamonn talking about you, Jennie. You might think about reposting that story as I remember how delightful it was.

    • Jennie says:

Guess who knocked on my door when the show was over? Eamonn, with flowers. We both had so many stories to tell each other about the taping. They cut out a story on the show; I looked at Kelly and asked if I could tell Eamonn a story. She was excited! I reminded him of a time in the library when my read aloud group couldn’t be there, and he said, “Jennie you can read to me.” I did! It was wonderful.

I think reposting an Eamonn blog post might be a good idea. Thanks, Pete.

  24. Norah says:

Oh no, Jennie. I was so looking forward to watching your video but I’m told it’s not available in my location. Do you know if the show is on YouTube?

    • Jennie says:

I heard that from fellow bloggers outside the USA. I’m waiting to hear back from John, whose wife is the EP of the show, as he has the video on his Twitter account. Hopefully he will give me a link to his Twitter so you and others can see it.

  25. Just watched the clip. You were fabulous! You made the most of this amazing experience to get out the literacy message!

  26. For some reason, your part of the segment didn’t get on the my DVR so I found another channel that had it and recorded it again the next day. Weather scrambles the recording sometimes. But I finally got it and watch once and again with my daughter. I was moved to tears at your own overwhelming happiness for someone other than yourself receiving such a generous gift. That tells a lot about you. You have such a pure, generous heart. I cried again when my daughter watched and she felt the exact same way. You have such exuberant childlike joy that you must have moved many more people. I wish they had given you so much more time. It’s hard to be coherent when the timer is running so fast. You were wonderful and a blessing to so very many. Sending so much love to you. Hugs. M

    • Jennie says:

I loved reading your words, Marlene. Thank you!! There was more that was edited, but I understand – that’s show biz. I am so glad you were able to find it. Yes, my joy and excitement were genuine. That really came across. I’m still in sticker shock at Dollar General’s donation to such a worthy organization. Hugs to you!
